WOS

West Olympic Stories is a You Tube project. This channel holds stories that build a better understanding of our human differences. We all have a story to tell! The emphasis is on that sometimes difficult, often misunderstood word “disability”. The videos spotlight the importance of our human differences.

Differences make for a strong, healthy society!

Who Is In Charge?

Please watch a short film about Whimsy the pug with disabilities.

The project is run by Pam Hicks, a retired Special Education teacher and current DDAC (Developmental Disability Advisory Committee) member. Pam created the Project Safer web site at: www.projectsafer.org and is a published author, photographer, and videographer. She has always held a strong belief in the productive inclusion of every human into society.

The Purpose

We are all unique and valuable. Tell your story about what the word “disabled” means to you. Help people understand you and others by telling your story!

Because this is meant to be a positive, helpful channel, videos will only be used IF the person wants it used. In other words, if the person or their guardian does not like the video, it will be deleted immediately! All people videoed will be contacted by e-mail when their video goes on-line.

It all began with a series of community-centered leadership trainings facilitated by Rural Development Initiatives (RDI).
